AppraisalsTop

We can research the fair and current market value of your clock and provide it in either verbal (free) or written form (charged at the research rate of $15 per hour).

Case CleanupTop

Case Cleanup is included in our Clean & Oil, Full Overhaul and Movement Replacement services. Wooden cases are thoroughly dusted and a light wax or oil is applied. Glass is cleaned and any particulate removed. Metal cases are given a light wax treatment. We hope to offer full case restoration services in the future, including veneer work and refinishing.

Clean & OilTop

This service is recommended every three to five years. The process includes visual/practical inspection and diagnosis, removal of old oil accumulations by hand, a heated ultrasonic bath in proprietary solution, application of new oil, more inspection, testing, regulation and finally case cleanup. The clock is returned to the owner with a warranty of a year on performance in most cases.

Pricing will vary based on the type of clock being serviced:

Wall or Shelf Clock, 1 or 2 Train: $75
Wall or Shelf Clock, 3 Train: $125
Floor Clock: $150 (House call mileage charges are not included)
Torsion Clock (Anniversary): $100
Cuckoo Clock, 1 or 2 Train: $75
Cuckoo Clock, 3 Train: $125

ConsignmentTop

With consigment, the item will be inspected for problems and diagnosed free of charge. If the item has issues, the owner can significantly increase the "sellability" of the clock by paying for services to restore it along with a limited warranty given to the buyer by Jackson Clock Repair. If the clock is found to have issues but no services are rendered, we will sell it with a general "as-is" no-warranty basis releasing the seller and Jackson Clock Repair from any liability after it has been purchased.

We do not have a showroom, so our offer of consignment utilizes two overall venues:

Collector Events

Jackson Clock Repair is present at several collector events of various sizes. These events are not open to the general public so they are unique in that the target audience is much more concentrated to the subject of horology than in other markets.

Online

We will use eBay, Craigslist and jacksonclockrepair.com to sell your item on consignment. Jackson Clock Repair has had years of experience with online auctions, classified ad services and web design in general. eBay has become a giant in the online auction arena and is considered among the most popular venue for horological items. Craigslist is a classified ad website offering localized sale/want ads all over the world, but in our case the most important being in the Nashville, Clarksville, Jackson and western Kentucky areas. Our website, so humble as it may be, is still an online presence and we can offer more detail and information on your item here than anywhere else.

Charges for consignment are 30% of the sale or hammer price plus the cost of any shipping supplies.

Dial Repainting/ResilveringTop

Dials are quite literally the "face" of a clock, so they deserve to look good. We have a contact that will fully repaint or touch up dials as well as resilver metal dials. Prices vary based on their estimate, but will start at about $100 each.

EstimatesTop

We like looking at clocks and we like business so therefore we like to give free estimates. The only charge you may incur in obtaining an estimate is mileage if a house call is requested or required.

Estimates are always written and the owner must sign to acknowledge that they accept the charges as written before any service can take place.

Full OverhaulTop

This is the most intensive service to a clock. The process includes testing and diagnosis of any current problems, disassembly, removal of old oil accumulations by hand, a heated ultrasonic bath in proprietary solution, all pivots and arbors are straightened and burnished, up to five bushings are installed (additional bushings are $12 each on floor clocks and $8 on all others), any mechanical or working defects are corrected as possible, the movement is reassembled, new oil is applied, more inspection, testing, regulation and finally case cleanup. The clock is returned to the owner with a warranty of a year on performance in most cases.

Pricing will vary based on the type of clock being serviced:

Wall or Shelf Clock, 1 or 2 Train: $175
Wall or Shelf Clock, 3 Train: $200
Floor Clock: $250 (House call mileage charges are not included)
Torsion Clock (Anniversary): $185
Cuckoo Clock, 1 or 2 Train: $175
Cuckoo Clock, 3 Train: $200

Glass/Mirror ReplacementTop

Finding the right glass can be tricky, but we have a few sources that can take care of replacing that glass or mirror for you. We will acquire, cut and install glass and mirror at the following prices:

Flat Glass: $8 per Square Foot
Flat Mirror: $10 per Square Foot
Wavy Glass: $25 per Square Foot
Wavy Mirror: $40 and Up per Square Foot
Convex Glass, Circular: $25 and Up
Convex Glass, Ovular: $50 and Up (Subject to Availability)
Dome Glass: $60 and Up

House CallsTop

House calls are a convenience among many customers and a requirement for floor clocks. We will be glad to set up an appointment to meet you at your home to give an estimate, pick up or drop off your clock. Mileage is charged at 50 per mile and the starting point is determined by the shortest distance to the owner from either Court Square in Paris, Tennessee or the intersection of I-24 and Bell Road (exit 59) in Antioch, Tennessee.

In-Home SetupTop

Moving? New purchase? We can come to your home and prepare your clock for a move or set up your new clock in its new home.

Pricing will vary based on the type of clock being set up (does not include house call mileage):

Wall or Shelf Clock, 1 or 2 Train: $15
Wall or Shelf Clock, 3 Train: $25
Floor Clock: $50 and Up
Torsion Clock (Anniversary): $15
Cuckoo Clock, 1 or 2 Train: $15
Cuckoo Clock, 3 Train: $25
Quartz Clock, Time Only: $15 and Up
Quartz Clock, Time and Strike/Chime: $25 and Up

Movement ReplacementTop

Replacing a movement can be routine in the case of modern clocks. Mass produced clocks since the 1950s will either have a German or Asian brass and steel movement or a quartz battery-operated movement. These movements were made to be interchangeable for quick and easy service down the line. We will only recommend the replacement of a movement when we either have no choice or it is the more economical option to the owner.

Jackson Clock Repair consideres itself bound by the ethics of the clock collecting community to "do no harm," and may refuse to replace a movement in an important or significant clock (mostly those that are about or more than 100 years old).

When a new movement is received, we will thoroughly inspect for and address issues before installation. Costs for replacement of a movement can vary widely.

Replacement PartsTop

There are only a handful of parts houses left these days. We will shop and compare to get the lowest price and carefully weigh that advantage against the part's quality to make the best choice possible.

Aquiring correct, original parts and movements from dealers and auctions based on need is very possible but we cannot guarantee any timeliness as availability can be very scattered.

ResearchTop

We can research the who, what, when, why and how as it pertains to your item and report it back in written form. Charge for research is $15 for the first hour and continues at that rate if the owner so wishes and information is available.
